New Geometry Gizmos Lesson Materials

It’s a new year—and we’ve got new Lesson Materials to support six of our Geometry Gizmos.

As always, our updated Lesson Materials have four documents (Student Exploration Sheet, Answer Key, Teacher Guide, and Vocabulary Sheet), each available as a .doc or .pdf. In addition, some of the Assessment Questions have also been updated to better match the new content.

Common Core Tools This website has information about tools that are being developed to support implementation of the Common Core State Standards. This site has the Progression for the following Domains: Ratio and Proportion for grades 6-7; Expressions and Equations for grades 6-8; Statistics and Probability for grades 6-8; and Numbers in Base Ten for grades K-5. Common Core Resources - NCTM The Mathematics Common Core Coalition works to provide expertise and advice on issues related to the effective implementation of the Common Core State Standards for School Mathematics (CCSSM). National Council of Teachers of Mathematics This is the offical website of NCTM. Mathematics Assessment Project The project is working to design and develop well-engineered assessment tools to support US schools in implementing the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS). Funding is provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the University of California, Berkeley. EM Crosswalk to CCSS This site shows how EM is correlated with the CCSS. It starts on page 12 of that document. Everyday Math and CCSS Crosswalk This site shows how Everyday Mathematics ©2007 aligns with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and for English Language Arts. The last column indicates links to the Teacher's Guide to Activities and Math Masters pages that have new or revised content to ensure (100%) alignment to the Common Core State Standards. Each math tool is supported by Common Core State Standards alignment, key vocabulary, and IEP goals Doing What Works Website Developing Effective Fractions Instruction for K-8 Serve Center of UNC at Greensboro This is a website that has lessons/examples for Developing Effective Fractions Instruction for Kindergarten Through 8th Grade. SEDL’s Southeast Comprehensive Center Support Videos for the CCSS in Mathematics This is SEDL’s Southeast Comprehensive Center Support Videos for the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in Mathematics. The CCSS videos are designed to support states, schools, and teachers in the implementation of the CCSS. Each video is an audiovisual resource that focuses on one specific standard and usually includes examples/illustrations geared to enhancing understanding. The intent of each content-focused video is to clarify the meaning of the individual standard rather than to be a guide on how to teach each standard although the examples can be adapted for instructional use.
